Making Arrangements
Our Role
As family Funeral Directors our combined experience, sensitivity, and training will enable us to cope with every aspect of the funeral, right down to the smallest detail. We know all too well that it’s attention to detail that can make the difference. Our philosophy of going the extra mile will make the difference between you just having a funeral and having a memorable experience. In defining our ‘Role’, we have five areas of responsibility:
Care of the your loved one
Our primary role, above all else, is to ensure that exceptional care and well-being are provided to your loved one.
We will act on your behalf in organising third parties, such as Crematorium, Cemetery, Clergy etc.
Our skills, qualifications, and experience will provide you with an endless range of options to extend unlimited choice to create a positive funeral experience.
The formal image of our profession, the ceremony, the funeral day result from our service. We’ll officiate the service, putting together every aspect of your requirements, just as you will have requested.
Our role is extensive, with many aspects of our efforts carried out behind the scenes. The funeral will be unique and as individual as the person who has died. It’s not just another funeral; it is an opportunity for us to create a lasting, positive, and memorable end to someone's life. We’re here to help you celebrate the life lost, as well as helping you through your grief. In deciding upon the Brown family to carry out your funeral, one thing is certain;- we’ll do EVERYTHING possible, adding those extra touches, to ensure your decision to choose us will be the right one.
Making the Arrangements
The timing to carry out arrangements is entirely your decision, and you do not need to rush and make any rash decisions. However, we encourage families to contact us as soon as possible after the death; this way, we can help and guide them through the immediate formalities such as registration. Once you feel comfortable and ready to discuss the funeral, we will make an appointment to meet.
Making funeral arrangements isn’t a simple process of an interview; it is developing your thoughts and ideas to create a special day. Our initial meeting will focus on sharing those thoughts and ideas, and combining these with our suggestions and offering you options and choices, many of which you may not have thought about. We never forget that this is not just another funeral; it isn’t for you; it certainly isn’t for us. Every funeral we carry out is an opportunity for us; we appreciate the honour being placed on us and will do everything possible to make your funeral day a positive, meaningful, and memorable day for all the right reasons. The initial meeting will also provide us with all the formal details required, get you to sign some documents, and, if you wish, make a firm confirmation on the day, time, and venue for the service. You then have plenty of time to consider all the options and choices, make your final decisions unhurried, and carefully consider how you want things to be.
Once initial arrangements have been made, we will provide you with a confirmation of the funeral booking, review the options, and think about things. Over the coming days will be in touch with you, ask what decisions have been made, and then begin to create the funeral day. We never rush, never encourage immediate decisions, and will not make any assumptions.
Funeral Costs
We offer a range of funerals to accommodate all financial circumstances and wishes. A member of our family will discuss all options and costs with you during the arrangement meeting. There are certain fixed costs attached to arranging any funeral, whether a Burial or a Cremation, for a church service or a secular ceremony. Variable costs are dependent on your choice of coffin and ancillary items as well as further requirements such as flowers, the use of extra limousines, and services. The Brown Family provides a ‘Simple Funeral’. This package is designed for those on a limited budget. It ONLY provides a more financially viable alternative and doesn’t compromise the actual quality of service.
Funeral costs are always formalised in a written estimate, and you will receive this soon after making the initial arrangements. Cost is a factor, funerals can be expensive, and we constantly look at ways to make the costs less of a burden. We appreciate that, for many, funeral expenses will be a worry, and lots of families will have concerns about how they will meet them. DON’T WORRY, whatever your circumstances, regardless of how much money you have, we will ensure a funeral is provided. We believe that every guest that comes into our care deserves to be treated equally. Should money be a deciding factor in the type of funeral, you have, please, let us know as soon as possible. This way, we can help guide you in making decisions that will best suit your budget.
DWP Payment
There are provisions through the DWP for assistance with funeral payments for those who receive a qualifying benefit. Eligibility is based on the financial circumstances of the person making a claim, not the benefits the deceased was receiving. The DWP will make an assessment based on a detailed application. Should you need to make a DWP claim, we will need to know this early to help you with your application and guide you through the options and choices that best suit your circumstances. Every family wants the best for their loved one; it’s an instinct and one we very much understand. But having the best does not mean spending more money; this definitely is not the case.
FUNERAL CHARGES:
We are open about our services and the charges associated with them. You should select the services you want and not pay for elements that are not essential to you. As such, we extend a menu style pricing system that is in line with the requirements of the National society of allied and independent funeral directors (SAIF) and the Competition and Markets Authority. Fair pricing that is clear, precise and extends value for money. Should you have any questions relating to our charges or are experiencing genuine financial hardship, please speak with a member of our family.
Bringing your loved one into our care
As soon as you and a doctor or health professional provides permission to do so, we will arrange for your loved one to brought into our care and rest in a private chapel of rest. For your peace of mind, transportation may be carried out at any time of the day or night.
